Ramadaan Week 4

posted in: Boeber Run, Events, LU4C | 2

The final Ramadaan Boeber Run started from the Voice of the Cape Radio Station in Salt River. Runners ran up Voortrekker Road to 6th Avenue in Kensington where we served our first guests for the evening.

From there we headed to serve guests in 10th Avenue, and then to Royal Road, Maitland, followed by a stop near Woodstock station. We finished the evening in District 6.

A special shout out goes to Captain Louis Solomons and others from Maitland SAPS, the Maitland neighborhood watch and the Kensington neighborhood watch. They escorted the runners all along the route making sure that we were safe from the oncoming traffic.

The evening was bittersweet as it marked the end of the Ramadaan Boeber Run program. While we shall surely miss the frequency of the Boeber Runs during this auspicious month, we are encouraged by the support we have received.

We cannot thank our sponsors enough for all of your contributions. @SpiceMeccaZA for your Boeber Mix donations, certainly made making this delicious drink easier. To @IslamicReliefSouthAfrica, your donations of blankets and milk throughout the month certainly warmed many hearts. To the Akni Bros. from the @Husami-Masjid-Cravenby, your tireless efforts to make those pots for each of our events was an absolute selfless act on your part. To Yusra and her team at @LegacyKidsSA, your pamper packs were so appreciated by the children especially – the smiles on their faces were testament to that. We also welcomed on board Green Hands from the Old Mutual Investment Group who donated 160 blankets towards this Boeber Run. To @Melomed for your medical support to the runners and our guests, thank you so much for all that you have done for us all.

To our supporters who tirelessly joined us, braved the cold to warm the hearts of our guests – we are confident when we say that our guests appreciated every act of kindness shown towards them. You all played a significant role in us exceeding our own expectations and for that we will be eternally grateful.

We make duah that the efforts displayed during this month continue after the month of Ramadaan and that this initiative grows from strength to strength In’Sha Allah Ameen.

May the Almighty accept all our collective good.
We need to be solutions-based by influencing policy for the homeless and those in informal settlements to be afforded dignity and to play meaningful roles in the economy.

We need to participate more often in activity that challenges our comfort zone.
