Parade Boeber Run 19 Oct 2018

The October installment of the Boeber Run took place on FRIDAY 19 October 2018 at the Grande Parade.

Our meeting place was the Voice Of the Cape Studios in Salt River, from where runners ran along the main road to the Parade. As usual, we were warmly greeted by our guests who were so excited to see us.

Every time Boeberrun brings us here, I am reminded of that historic day in 1994 when Nelson Mandela addresses the nation at his inauguration speech, and in particular:

“The task at hand on will not be easy. But you have mandated us to change South Africa from a country in which the majority lived with little hope, to one in which they can live and work with dignity, with a sense of self-esteem and confidence in the future. The cornerstone of building a better life of opportunity, freedom and prosperity is the Reconstruction and Development Program.

This needs unity of purpose. It needs in action. It requires us all to work together to bring an end to division, an end to suspicion and build a nation united in our diversity.”

I am sure, the vision of 200 people lining up on this freezing cold, windy Friday evening was not what he had in mind. It is an evening such as this that reminds us to be more involved with Self Empowerment projects where our guests are not dependent on hand outs.

What was encouraging to see was the number of youth volunteers that are joining us on the Boeberruns. The future looks bright and we make duah that the seeds planted today will reap the rewards of an evergreen forest In’sha Allah.

As usual, guests were served a warm punnet of food prepared by our friends at the Husami Masjid, some fruit, sandwich, party pack, and a warm cup of Boeber.

Our guests at the Company Gardens where not around which meant from the Parade, we headed straight to Trafalgar sharing in some laughs with our guests.

We would like to once again thank all of our volunteers and donors. Without your support, our efforts would not be successful. We pray that the Almighty bless you all abundantly and that our ventures continue to grow from strength to strength In’Sha Allah (God Willing) Ameen

“As long as poverty, injustice, and gross inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest.” – Nelson Mandela
