Our press release last Wednesday provided our organization with so many reasons to celebrate.

We started with a brief introduction of how fate brought Irafaan and Faizel together and the subsequent birth of LU4C.

Next we had some special people to thank, amongst supporters, volunteers and donors with special mention made to:

  • The Husami Masjid – for their support in always ensuring our guests are provided with a warm punnet of food
  • Protea Toyota for their continued support
  • Melomed for their medical support to our team as well as our guests.

Next it was time for some really amazing announcements.

Mr Ommiedraai and Friends – Mogamat Shahmieg Allie, announced that Lace Up for Change was named as a beneficiary of the Ommiedraai 10km race.  We are so blessed and excited for the opportunity to build on a relationship with a club as renowned as Ommiedraai and Friends and to foster the spirit of sharing and caring.

Then it was time for more announcements.  Having previously supplied 3 schools with BRAND NEW SCHOOL SHOES, #LU4C has officially launched our #LaceUpForSchool Campaign. This campaign aims to provide children from impoverished areas with a brand new pair of school shoes. Shoes are symbolic of pride and gives confidence. A brand new pair of school shoes can help our learners walk to school comfortably, and with confidence.

In honour of the late Abdullah Peters, who was instrumental in the gifting of school shoes to Thornton Road Primary, the LU4C crew will be participating in the Cape Town marathon to raise funds for the #SchoolShoeProject every year going forward.

Anyone wanting to contribute / donate toward fitting a deserving child / children with a brand new pair of School Shoes may contribute towards this initiative by either donating from as little as R100 per pair of shoes:

Acc Name: Lace Up For Change

We give thanks to The Almighty for bestowing on us such blessings, and affording us with the opportunities to serve our communities through the involvement of our donors, sponsors and supporters.

“While we do our good works let us not forget that the real solution lies in a world in which charity will have become unnecessary.”
